Acrylic Nails
Acrylic nails are the strongest and last the longest of all the nail overlays. But, if Acrylic nails aren't done well, Acrylic nails can look thick and artificial. This type usually needs to be filled in every two to three weeks.
Gel Nails
Manicurists use a Mylar form to sculpt your nail, and then cure, or set, it under an UV light. Because of this process, gel nails may need to be filled in less often than acrylic nails, though fill-ins are still necessary, and a professional must remove the tips. Gel Acrylics are the quickest to apply and in my opinion, look the best. With Gel acrylic nails, you can choose to go without polish without the fear of your nails looking fake. What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
gel is thicker and scratches allot so becomes matted!
hope this helps

gel lasts longer and tehy''re more natural feeling. i haven't actually gotten them but my friends have had gel so i can tell from that
Well acrylic are definitely stronger but i think they look less natural, especially if your nail technician applies them too thickly, therefore gel look more natural but if i was you I'd get some 'Sally Hansen' 'nail growth miracle' i use it, apply two coats every other day, sometimes three, and my nails are really long n' strong and i french manicure them myself so they look like false nails, except they ain't lol, alot cheaper too, i used to have an infill on my gel nails every 9 days as they'd look scruffy.
In terms of the process, Gel is applied using pots of gel and the use of a UV lamp which cures the gel, and Acrylic is powder form which simply go hard after a few minutes of being put on your nails so a UV lamp isn't required.
Hope that answered your question and more lol..

Prefer screws myself......Gel and acrylic nails are difficult to bang in, unless of course I have been using the wrong hammer.
The gel nails are of course gel or more liquid based, the acrylic is powder combined with a liquid soaked applicator. Acrylic-usually one neutral colored or nude for the nail bed and the tip is usually a white powder, they are both brushed onto the nail with a smallish paint brush with liquid chemical on it and small bead of powder. The gel is applied to the nails similarly and is processed/finished setting by an ultraviolet light, then promptly filed without buffing and polished if desired. Once the small bead with the nail liquid is brushed onto your nail it doesn't need any further activation or set up just to dry %26amp; be buffed %26amp; filed. The procedures are different, but usually they last no longer one than the other if you take care of them, don't file them if you don't have to and try to avoid picking at them around the cuticle, don't use acetone based polish remover and try not to break or pull one off it is very painful, lastly, neither likes water very much. Not that they don't last as long but prolonged exposure to water can in some instances where lifting has occurred cause a nail fungus on either one, so if you ever see a darkened spot under the area of the nail bed where it is to be sealed, it looks yellow-dark or smells funny, HAVE THEM REMOVED IMMEDIATELY! They do usually last though a good while, if properly maintained and cared for. Hope this helps!

the difference between them is with gel they use a uv lamp to set them. they are supose to be stronger and are more shinny. with acrylic they use a loose powder. they are a more natural looking nail as far as false nails looking real go. neither of these should be painful unless a reaction accures. false nails really damage the natural nail so id only have them done for a special action.
it almost the same . gel is just as pretty as acrylic i think theyre a little more shiny. and well what they use is more like a goopy thing its not powder. its the same process its just different material. get it??
Both are equally durable, can be used as overlays, over tips, or sculpted on a form and both can look natural (or unnatural). There really isn't a lot of difference in the two. The nail tech will notice the most difference because they are applied in different ways (acrylic using liquid and powder and air-cures, while gel is a one-part system that needs a UV lamp to cure).
