What is wrong with my dogs nails?

I have a one year old boston terrier. On the top of her nails she has what looks like lines of blood. It runs from the top of her nail to the bottom. She had her one year check up in January and her doctor didn't say any thing about them. What do you think? What is wrong with my dogs nails?
Dogs have blood and veins in their nails, thats why you have to be careful about cutting them. What is wrong with my dogs nails?
Maybe he just has light colored nails or maybe you can just see his veins or maybe you squeezed his paw and his veins just popped up.
If your dog has light colored nails, you are probably seeing the vein that runs inside the nail. This is normal. In fact, it's a good thing because then it is easier to cut the nails without cutting that vein because the groomer/Vet/you can see it!
There are veins that run through their nails, all but the very ends, hence the reason they bleed if you cut too low.. Think of it as that is their equivalent of our ';nail bed'; vs the excess that grows out past our fingertips
Are you sure you aren't just looking at the quick (vain in the nail)?
it seems to me that you are looking at the top of the nail if they are white then you are looking at the blood vein that is in each nail also called a quick and when trimmed too short they will bleed
There is nothing wrong with your dog that is the quick in the nail(the vein)and I would recomend you take her to a vet/groomers to get the nails trimmed because if you cut the nails to far up it will bleed and my mom told me that she had this lady come in with her Yorkie and she took it in to a Barbur shop with her and the Barbur said ';oh yeah I can trim it's nails'; and the Barbur almost completly cut the poor things nails off and she came it with it the same day and my mom got it to stop. So a bit of advice if you are going to cut it your self DON'T cut it past or at the vein because if you do it will bleed but you can just take a towel and hold it on the nail for 30 seconds and see if it has stopped bleeding but if not just keep holding on the towel until it stops.

~Hope this Helps!:) 鈾?惟 Best of Luck! 惟
