I suppose it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Acetone is a solvent that, among other things, is used to dissolve cyanoacrylate bonding agents. In other words, it loosens nail glue. So if that's what you're trying to accomplish, go right ahead. Just use it in a well ventilated area, because the fumes are pretty potent.
Acetone isn't harmful to the body unless it's digested. Try getting acetone with a lemon or strawberry smell, so the smell isn't as strong.

yes its fine. Just make sure when you do soak them, don't look at the bowl with the acetone in it. It makes your eyes sting.
if there the fake ones you buy from a store, you just run the finger nails through hot water, if she got them done, then yes use acetone
