I am going to get my Sun Conures nails clipped soon?

Should I also get his feathers clipped? For the feathers it isn't necessary. Is it worth taking away my birds ability to jump around just to save me a second trip?I am going to get my Sun Conures nails clipped soon?
That really is a question you need to answer yourself. If you have a cat and/or a dog at home, I would not clip a bird.

Why would you need to clip the bird? As the owner of a companion bird you should always know where the bird is when it is out of its cage. Most conures are very curious %26amp; can get themselves into trouble without even trying.

I have a flighted Patagonian that prefers to walk around looking for me if I go to the bathroom without her, so clipping her would not do much good. I also have a maroon bellied conure that also likes walking around. He likes to climb curtains %26amp; chew vinyl blinds...I'm shure he does it just to get me to change the dirty ones.

Clipping a bird to keep them from flying out the door is not really a good reason, because clipped suns can still do that.

Clipping can sometimes present new dangers. If your bird remains able to fly and decides to follow you into the kitchen, they may not be able to control their landing...got something on the stove, what about an electric skillet? Are you washing dishes in the sink?

I have suns also %26amp; had one slide off a counter she tried to land on. I've also had a maroon bellied conure fly into the dishwater, though both times I was right there, it was a little disconcerting.

The birds that were clipped came that way, but were not after their feathers grew back out.

I'm not any sort of flag waver about not clipping, but I just cannot justify clipping my birds' wings for my convenience...that's why I said that clipping is a decision you need to make. I am going to get my Sun Conures nails clipped soon?
Here is a great site on the topic of wing clipping;

The only reason to clip is to avoid properly training your bird to safely fly indoors, so in essence, for your own convienence.

If you think your bird will get hurt being flighted indoors, then you should probably do a partial clip. You never want to clip your bird to the point that he falls like a bag of rocks. This kind of thing creates height phobia in birds which is very hard to reverse and leads to extensive screaming, biting and even feather plucking. Feather plucking happens a lot in birds who are not aloud to fly because they have no purpose for their wings anymore.
The only time you should get a bird wings clipped is if it keeps flying hard in to surfaces and may cause itself damage or you need to tame it and it keeps flying away.

Otherwise leave them alone.
